February 2007 Started validating the HTML of this site.  Pages done so far are:
  • 02/06/2007 : Home page, News
January 2007 Where'd the year go?  LOTS of work on the site as well on the new club portable oval.  Tri-County Oval is currently being hosted where West County Raceway is - check the map for location.  I'll try to keep this more up to date and keep it news related to the web site not just to the club.
  • Cleaned up some typos on the schedule
  • Clarified some rule issues and republished them (ProTrack NASTruck)
  • Removed driver profile page - no one reads it anyway.
August 2006 I have been converting all of the articles to PDF.  A lot of sites are linking to just the photographs and therefore eating a lot of bandwidth without us getting any benefit. 
July 28, 2006 Been fixing a lot of broken links due to CaSEseSaTivITy on the server.  Ever since I reinstall FP it has been hosed.  I am trying to make ALL pages and links LOWERCASE all the time.  You should see less and less pages and images not found.
June 26, 2006 The website is being restored from a backup.  And for some reason Microsoft FrontPage 2003 isn't consistent with the requirement of CAPS or no CAPS.  Seems the local PC sees '1.JPG' and '1.jpg' as the same file BUT the remote host sees them as 2.  Please be patient as I work this out - again.
May 3, 2006 Added videos to YouTube service to keep the space requirements down.  It if works well then I might move ALL the videos to the free service.
March 8, 2006 Been fixing links and more.  Seems FP 2003 makes EVERYTHING on the web lowercase whereas the previous version worked OK with mixed case.  MS thought it to be an improvement since everyone OBVIOUSLY only publishes to windows based servers...  Please keep me posted if you still find things.
February 22, 2006 My PC where I had the web site and the software to design it went south.  Over the next few weeks I hope to have all the issues resolved.  Right now I am trying to synchronize the web site to my latest backup (yes, I do keep backups).  Please contact me at mgpmrc@mgpmrc.org if you find any outstanding items.  Thanks for your patience.

August 15, 2005 This is what came out of the monthly lunch (August 11):

It was a good lunch and lots of chatter about the club and cars. Here is what I got out of it. Note: NONE OF THIS IS WRITTEN IN STONE - just suggestions.

1. Role assignment within the club
Administrator/Treasurer/Store - Gil
Scheduling/Records/Awards - Vince
Tech & Check-in/Records - Mark P
Rules - Ken R

This comes from the discussion that we need to spread the load of the work around the club. Gil does a great job but with life and work, like everyone else, gets overwhelmed. The addition of Vince and Mark P to Records/Tech/Awards are to help lighten his load.
Gil: If you WANT nothing to change PLEASE say so!

2. Scheduling
a) Schedule business meetings on the calendar. Make the dates firm. Allow agenda items to be added during the year. Do then toward the end of the season(s) to allow voting for the next year.
b) Club races. Try to schedule regular event/trophy races throughout the year.

3. Questions
a) How should we award concourse? What is a good way to recognize good work? Single winner or box plaque for everyone who 'wins'?
b) How can we improve the nomination process for the class(es) of cars we want to run the next season(s)?
c) Should award types be pre-asked? For example, currently I would like a trophy for ANY podium position while Paul only wants them for 1st. He wants box plaques for the rest. If we ask at the beginning of the season we don't have to hunt down the winners to see what their choices are.
There would be a 'drop-dead' date to allow winners to modify their choices though.
d) What other awards should there be? Should we offer one or all the track owners (and spouses) a gift certificate for the use of their house/track? Should we have one for corner marshaling? Sportsman? Most times off the track (see point (c) above for me)? Others?

4. Should the club have a car or two that they can sell to members who might not have the skill/time to do one for the class? Should the club have a loaner ready for someone who might show up for that night? What about a loaner controller?

  • Fixed an image issue with all the articles (apparently Firefox doesn't automatically fix "\" as "/" as IE does).

  • Contacted Victory Junction Gang to work on doing some charity event.

  • Added a bunch of photos from the last 2 races
  • Started scoring the new plastic season with the new point system. Instead of 20,25,12,10,8,6,4,2,1 it is now 20,17,15,13,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.  The new system goes deeper into the line up and rewards those who are consistant.
  • Started to post the seasons raw results.  Also working on posting old seasons results.

  • Modified the 404 page since about 10% of our visitors come looking for photos that have long been removed.  Probably need to make it so search engines don't look there...

  • Moved a few more pages from FP extensions to Java Script. A slow and painful process.
  • Updated the 404 error page.  Hopefully more viewers will let us know about web site errors.
  • Updated the LINKS page... and verified them.

  • Removed a lot of older graphics from the base dir of the web site and put back only what we really needed(1/6)
